Last weekend Meaders and Kara headed south to San Antonio for the 5th annual gathering of the Foodways Texas Symposium to experience and explore “The Texas Mexican Table”. If you guys are unfamiliar with Foodways Texas, head over and check them out. We are BIG fans.
We started the weekend with a dinner at Mission San Juan
One hundred plus guests gather each year to talk and learn about a specific aspect of Texas food culture and the history of our cuisine. The topics this year ranged from ancient indigenous eating and cooking practices, to the tradition of tamalada (modern day tamales).
And we ate. Really it’s about the eating.
Get a load of that frito pie from Matt’s
As always, it was a blast, full of interesting food and people.
Next year the gathering is in Austin. Maybe we will see you there?
